Over recent years more and more businesses have been turning to the Internet to deliver products and services. The growth and wider availability of low cost connectivity means that businesses have access to a wider number of consumers and markets. It also means that delivering applications over the network from a data centre environment has become an everyday reality.
As technology reaches a level of maturity where many diverse and complex services can be delivered via the network to users regardless of location or device, Star are building a data centre to support the future needs of its customers.
To enable the delivery of powerful, flexible and scalable computing from the data centre, it was imperative that the chosen location for Star Data Centre 3 must have huge amounts of reliable power. Virtualisation technologies allow for higher densities of computing power but this is often throttled by the infrastructure capacity of conventional data centres. The abundant scalable mains power delivered to Star's chosen site in Bristol allows greater efficiencies as a result of increased server utilisation.
The two purpose built data halls provide a high specification infrastructure for both double-density colocation space and the high availability platforms required for the delivery of next generation managed services.
Star Data Centre 3 also provides the required geographic diversity from Star's other data centres in Gloucester and London and enhances it's Next Generation Network and Hosting Infrastructure.
